Method
- Scrub the potato well and pat dry. Use a fork to poke holes all over the potato.
- Place potato directly on microwave-safe plate. Microwave on high for about 10 minutes (or adjust based on size and microwave wattage), turning halfway if needed.
- After cooking, let rest for 1–2 minutes (it continues cooking). Check by gently squeezing or piercing with fork; if still firm, microwave additional 1-2 minutes.
- Slice open (careful of steam), season with salt & pepper, and add desired toppings (butter, cheese, sour cream, etc.).
- Optional: for crispier skin, brush with olive oil and place under broiler or in oven briefly.
Notes
Time depends heavily on potato size and microwave power. Pricking holes is crucial to let steam escape and avoid bursting. Let it rest after cooking to finish internal cooking.
